Frequently asked

Everything we get asked, all in one place.

Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch — we'd much rather have a quick chat than leave you guessing.

The questions below come straight from Campos Dental patients — many asked directly by phone or at reception, others added because they capture a worry we hear often enough to want to answer in writing.

Where a question is specifically about a treatment, you will usually find a more detailed answer on that treatment's page — the implants FAQ on the implants page, the Invisalign FAQ on the Invisalign page, and so on. If your question is about something else (cost, finance, anxiety, opening hours, parking, NHS vs private, registering as a new patient), it should be in the list below.

And if it isn't, please get in touch. We answer the phone within a few rings during opening hours and reply to messages within a working day — and we'd much rather have a quick chat than leave you guessing.

General

Do you offer NHS treatment?

Campos Dental is a fully private practice. We don’t offer NHS treatment, but we keep our fees transparent and offer two ways to spread the cost:

  • Our adult dental plan from £21.50/month — bundles your check-ups, hygiene visits and a 10% discount on further treatment.
  • 0% finance for 12 months on treatments over £350 via Chrysalis Finance.
I'm a nervous patient — can you help?

Absolutely. A large part of our practice is built around caring for nervous and phobic patients. We take time, never rush, explain everything we’re about to do, and use the gentlest techniques available. For more complex treatment, we can arrange IV sedation (a form of conscious sedation delivered intravenously by a visiting anaesthetist) that keeps you completely relaxed and comfortable throughout. Tell us when you book — we’ll allow extra time at your first visit.

Fees & plans

How much does a routine check-up cost?

Adult routine examinations are £50 (the new-patient examination is £65 — slightly longer, includes a thorough soft-tissue and oral-cancer screen as well as the standard exam). Child examinations (under 18) are £25. Joining our adult dental plan from £21.50/month includes two exams and two hygiene visits each year — comparable value to paying as you go, plus a 10% discount on any further treatment.

Is the dental plan better value than paying as you go?

For most patients, yes — though the like-for-like comparison is closer than it sounds. The adult plan at £21.50/month works out to £258/year; pay-as-you-go for two examinations (£100) + two hygiene visits (£160) is £260. On exams and hygiene alone the saving is negligible. Where the plan earns its keep is the 10% discount on any further treatment (fillings, crowns, implants — everything except Invisalign), the emergency cover, and the Global Dental A&E Assistance Scheme bundled on top. The plan is also a useful “I’m overdue for a visit” prompt — most of our plan members never miss a check-up.

Do you accept Bupa dental insurance?

Yes. Campos Dental is part of the Bupa Dental Insurance Network, so Bupa dental insurance members can claim up to 10% off the cost of general treatment with us. To use it, let us know you’re a Bupa member and bring your membership number to your appointment.

The discount is subject to your Bupa policy and Bupa’s terms, and excludes laboratory fees, specialist treatment and Bupa Dental Essentials. This is separate from our own Dental Plan, which also includes 10% off treatment for a fixed monthly fee.

Finance

Can I spread the cost of treatment with 0% finance?

Yes. We offer 0% APR finance for up to 12 months through Chrysalis Finance (FCA-authorised; Firm Reference Number 631193) on treatments from £350 to £25,000. Longer terms are available at 9.9% APR. There’s no deposit, treatment can start as soon as your application is approved, and you have a 14-day cooling-off period.

Campos Dental Clinic Ltd is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Chrysalis Finance Limited.

Appointments & access

I'm in pain right now — can you see me today?

We keep emergency appointments available every working day. Call us on 020 3971 2000 as early as you can and we’ll do everything we can to see you the same day. Emergency appointment is £90 plus the cost of any treatment needed.

If you’re in severe pain outside our opening hours, NHS 111 can direct you to your nearest out-of-hours dental service.

Where can I park?

There’s free 30-minute parking in the parade outside the practice, which you can extend using PayByPhone. Additional pay-and-display parking is available nearby on Edgware Way and Heathfield Gardens. If you’re coming by tube, Edgware station (Northern Line) is 0.7 miles away — a 15-minute walk or a 7-minute bus ride on the 113, 186 or 288.

Is the practice wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The practice has a ramp entrance, full wheelchair access throughout, and accessible toilets. If you have specific access needs, let us know when you book and we’ll make sure everything is ready for your visit.

What are your opening hours?
  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (closed 1–2 pm for lunch)
  • Saturday: by appointment only
  • Sunday: closed

To book a Saturday appointment, please call us during the week on 020 3971 2000.

Treatments

Are dental implants painful?

No — placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients report it feeling more comfortable than a tooth extraction. You may have some mild bruising or swelling for a few days afterwards, easily managed with over-the-counter painkillers. The result is a natural-feeling tooth designed to last decades.

Invisalign or fixed braces — which is better?

It depends on your case. Invisalign treats most mild-to-moderate alignment issues, is near-invisible, removable for eating, and easy to keep clean. Fixed braces can correct more complex bites that aligners cannot, and offer the most predictable results. We’ll honestly recommend the right option for you at your consultation rather than upselling — sometimes the answer is “neither, your teeth look great as they are.”

Is professional teeth whitening safe?

Yes — when done by a registered dentist. We use clinically-proven, professional-grade products at concentrations that are only legal under a dentist’s supervision. Sensitivity, if any, is mild and temporary. Avoid over-the-counter and beauty-salon whitening — these are either too weak to work or, in unregulated cases, can damage your teeth and gums.

New patients

What happens at a new-patient examination?

Your first visit is unhurried — usually around 45 minutes. We discuss your medical history, your dental history, anything you’d like to change, and what good looks like for you. Then a thorough clinical exam: teeth, gums, bite, tongue, soft tissues and a routine oral cancer screen. We take any X-rays needed and finish with a clear treatment plan and quote. New patient examination is £65.

Are you taking on new patients?

Yes — we welcome new patients of all ages, including families. Call us on 020 3971 2000 or use the contact form and we’ll arrange a date that suits you. Many patients book a new-patient examination first to get to know the practice before committing to any further treatment.

Still have a question?

We're happy to answer it. Call or send a message — we usually reply within a working day.
